Good Marks Scheme

The scheme seeks to recognise improvements to the street scene and general care of the built environment.

Nominations are considered each month, and a certificate is awarded to successful projects. Recent winners include Rio's hairdressing Salon on High Street, Barton Town Council for the flower beds on Ferriby Road, and Finishing Touches on King Street for its sympathetic restoration.

A Green Good Mark has now been introduced tin recognition of environmental improvements. The first Green Mark was awarded in 2006 to Crisp and Fresh green grocers for its initiative to reduce the use of plastic carrier bags.

Each year a panel judges consider all the certificated projects and an Annual Award is presented to the overall winner at the Society's Annual General Meeting.
